TESTIMONIALS

Rodney Spicer has been a driving force in a philosophical change that has occurred in the K9 program. This change has posted outstanding results over the past few years. Rodney has been instrumental in developing and overseeing the training that occurs on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The success of this is evident in the units daily on-duty performance, but was once again validated with an outstanding performance during a recent competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two K9 teams from the unit combined to win first place in 3 of the 5 events, and took second place in the overall top agency category. These results were posted from a field of 43 K9 teams from the western states. This performance follows two previous years of outstanding performance at similar K9 trials in Phoenix, Arizona, where the last two years the unit earned “top agency” honors. Rodney has worked hard with the competing K9 teams to prepare them for these competitions, and has accompanied them to the events.

All of these successes belong to each and every member of the K9 unit from officer to trainer, as everything they do is truly a team effort. There are no individuals in this unit, only members of a team. This attitude is clear in everything they do, as they constantly strive to improve each other, knowing that the unit will improve as a result. Rodney has given much of himself for the betterment of the unit.

I speak for the department when I say that I am proud of this unit, each and every member of it, and of the outstanding image that they project. They are truly a credit to this Police Department.

Rodney Spicer is a pioneer in his field. His devotion to perfection, his level of enthusiasm, and his training program are beyond impressive. Rodney offers some of the most important training and the most impressively trained dogs we have seen. My firm really values its ongoing relationship with Gold Coast K9.

Hey Rodney,

Just giving you an update on Rico. His narcotic detection is phenomenal and the best narcotic dog we have. He has had several finds on the street and has earned the nick name of “ bar none” & “the franchise” he has also found several suspect that were hiding as well as some apprehensions. He is truly a great dog. Thanks Rodney.

I would like to thank you for the outstanding job you have done and continue to do training out Police Service Dogs!

Over the last 9 years, the Culver City Police Department has purchased several dogs from Gold COast and utilized your services to train them. It is obvious from their performance that you have done a great job training both the dogs and their handlers.

I have personally attended several training sessions and observed how meticulously and professionally you train and work both the dogs and handlers so they can perform at an optimal level. Again, it is clear that our dogs excel in their tracking and detection skills along with displaying excellent obedience and discipline.

I have personally learned many thing about police dogs and their training from you and wan to thank you for doing such a great job!

The Naples Police Department had purchased a drug dog and training for an officer from Rodney Spicer, Gold Coast K-9 in the fall of 2006. Our officer came back from the training with a positive experience and a large amount of knowledge from the training.

After the training, our dog and handler have made numerous drug arrests. I also have had positive comments from other agency dog handlers on how our dog and handler work together to produce amazing results.

It would be my recommendation to anyone looking for a dog and handler training to consider Gold Coast K-9 fo rthe reasons of professionalism, honesty and loyalty to the cause we have experienced with Rodney Spicer, Gold Coast K-9.

Dear Rodney,

Bach continues to be a wonderful dog- still attached to me at the hip and of course very much a part of the family. We had occasion just last weekend to use his search skills here at the house. A combination of events by the gardener and a carpenter (we later learned) left the front gates and back door wide open when I returned home with Cole at 9:00 pm. Bach never left the property and ran to greet my car as we drove in. Decided to call the police over the concern of open gates (after I secured them hours earlier) and to check the property- they missed the open garage door. So we sent Bach in – he remembered the command and searched the entire house. Needless to say I was impressed and felt safe with him at my side. In fact he is so dedicated he often waits at the door from which I left the house until I return. He continues to be loving and gentle with the kids. All thanks to you Rodney for finding and training the perfect dog.

The Canine(s) that Rodney has provided have been well trained and disciplined in conducting accurate and effective searches during the past year. The searches have proven to be a deterrent to the inmate population to refrain from using narcotics while incarcerated.

Rodney,  Thanks from all of us at Merced Sheriff K-9.  I have been to hundreds of hours of k-9 training and yours was by far the best for me.  The muzzle work, and situational training styles  you teach are excellent. The other deputies are raving about the agitator class, and the different exercises they encountered.  We look forward to future training sessions with you and thanks again.

Rodney,

I just want to let you know that Hilton is doing great. Where ever I go on the property he is there with me, with out a leash. When I call him he comes running awaiting his next command. Hilton has a great temperament but as equal when someone is at the gate he is there to greet them with a bark. Rodney your eye for dogs is to be unmatched and this was confirmed when we had rescued an adult Rottweiler male and you advised us that we had an unsafe dog. We wanted to give the dog a chance but after biting four of the staff we realized he was in the wrong situation. We sincerely value your advice, opinions and truly professional service.

Electronic Collar Course:

Over the last few years I have been looking for a training course on the proper use of an E-collar.  The course was phenomenal and it really helped me understand and use the E-collar correctly.  I appreciate your patients with me during the course.  You explained so much to me, demonstrated the technique, what to watch for and then had me perform it with my canine.  The results were shocking! To think that my canine partner could actually respond to the collar in such a positive way, just blew my mind.

Thank You
